On Friday, October 3, at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, we will attend the Greek premiere of Ocean with David Attenborough and a roundtable discussion on Marine Protected Areas. Demetres Karavellas, representative of the flagship initiative “WeSea You” and the broader program for achieving the “30×30” target in Greece, is a guest speaker at the roundtable discussion: “Achieving the 30×30 target in Greece: Cooperation and coordination between public and private bodies and organizations,” which will take place as part of the event.

The Greek premiere of Ocean with David Attenborough is organized by Revive Our Ocean and National Geographic Pristine Seas, in collaboration with the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) (which is also a member of the “WeSeaYou” initiative). The Greek Prime Minister will honor the official launch with his presence.

“After a lifetime of recording the natural world, I now understand that the most important place on Earth is not on land.”

With these words, David Attenborough introduces us to his latest documentary on the ocean. In Oceans, the legendary presenter and nature enthusiast introduces us to life under the sea and the threats it faces, while filling us with hope through examples from around the world where ecosystem recovery has been possible.

Marine Protected Areas remain one of the most important tools for protecting the sea, allowing ecosystems and species to recover and effectively addressing the effects of climate change. A healthy ocean is essential for a vibrant planet. Attenborough takes us on a journey above and below the waves, showing us all the reasons why protecting the sea should be one of the key priorities of our time.
